The Kong Wobbler Treat Dispensing Toy Review
The Kong Wobbler Is One Of Our Greyhound's Favourite Toys!
Now, everybody who has a dog has almost certainly heard of the Kong toys!
I've been a long time fan of these virtually indestructible rubber chew toys which you can put treats in and your dog is kept occupied trying to get them out. Even our parrot had one to keep her entertained and it stood up to her strong beak with no problem at all.
We have a greyhound, Declan, who loved the first kong chew toy we got him, he got wise after a while though and got extracting his treats down to a fine art! They lasted no more than 5 minutes with him chewing, picking up, dropping and bouncing the Kong on the floor and other hard surfaces, the bite sized goodies easily popped out!
Then he was given the Kong Wobbler to try out!
How can I describe the Kong Wobbler?
Well, are you old enough to remember 'Weebles'?
Weebles "wobble but they don't fall down! It's the same with the Kong Wobbler!
Get the right size Wobbler and your dog could spend ages, happily pushing it around the floor trying to get at the treats!
We got the large Wobbler for Declan, and when they say large they aren't joking!
This dog toy is made from "food approved high strength polymer" which is a much harder material than the regular Kong chew toys, and much easier to keep clean!
The top unscrews, making it easy to insert, or remove, treats or kibble. Declan loves his with a mixture of kibble and chopped carrot.
Although Deccy can pick this toy up, if he gets it stuck in a corner, because it is made of a much harder and shiny material than the other Kong he finds it difficult to toss it around, which is perhaps fortunate given its weight of the thing, and which is why I would say make sure that you get one that is big enough for the size of your dog. They come in small, medium and large sizes.
The Wobbler is meant to stimulate and make your dog work for their treats, in fact some of Declan's friends have told us that they have their whole meal out of it! Pushing the Wobbler around to get at their kibble helps to slow down the rate at which they eat their meal rather than bolting it down in a few gulps.
We use the Wobbler when we have to leave Declan in the house and go out. He isn't, or wasn't, great at being left alone, he had terrible separation anxiety when we first rescued him and we could barely leave him alone for even 10 minutes at a time.
I'm not saying that the toy on it's own cured his anxiety, but it certainly seemed to keep him occupied for a good while trying to get at his treats, and we have worked up to being able to leave him for up to 4 hours at a time.
I'm not sure that Deccy would say that this is his absolute favorite toy, he does love his stuffies, but it has certainly been a godsend to us!
