The Coach Inn, Lesbury, Northumberland

We first visited this pub in 2008, having thought how pretty it was as we drove past. This was our third visit to the area since then and we've always had a great experience. This time we were staying at Puffin Cottage in the village of Lesbury, a mere stones throw from the pub so we visited several times over the week.
All the staff were friendly and courteous. They even offered to bring a bowl of water for our dog when we sat in the beer garden.
I've read so many reviews stating how rude the Landlord is and whilst I can see that some may interpret his behaviour as a little brusque, he's been very pleasant to us on every occasion. Having said that, we don't have children, in fact we probably have the same attitude to them that he reportedly has!! Nevertheless there were a couple of people in there with a toddler and baby and the Landlady made a real fuss of them.
The price of food is probably a little above average for a pub, but it is good quality and well cooked. We had the mussels and were very impressed with them. There are some reasonable vegetarian options too.
Booking is recommended, especially at busy times.
If you're in the area and want to visit a "proper" English village pub for a meal or just a drink, we certainly recommend that you call in.
