Read Our Review Of The Metin Hotel, Dalyan, Turkey

Entrance to The Metin Hotel, Dalyan, TurkeyMetin Hotel, Dalyan, Turkey
The Metin Hotel is conveniently located close to the centre of Dalyan with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants within 5 minutes strolling distance.

Our stay at the Metin Hotel was for 9 days at the beginning of October 2009. Arriving at around midnight, help was on hand with our luggage and check in was quick and easy.

Metin Hotel
Though we had requested a first floor room with our tour operator, Thomas Cook, we were allocated one of the ground floor rooms in block C and were more than pleased with our accomodation.

The ground floor rooms in block C of the Metin Hotel all have a terrace, which look out onto the circular swimming pool. The terraces are covered which means that they don't get much sun but the weather can be really hot in Dalyan and the shade is very welcome.

Sun worshippers can always walk just a few steps to the pool and relax on one of the sunbeds.

The room was basic, but clean, with a double and one single bed, bedside cabinets, wardrobe, dressing table, hair dryer, small fridge and mini bar.

A safety deposit box is located inside the wardrobe at a cost of £1 per night.

There is a daily maid service and linen is changed regularly... look out for some of the spectacular towel folding designs!

Bathroom at the metin hotel dalyan, turkeyMetin Hotel Bathroom
The bathroom was clean, tiled throughout, and had a wc, sink and shower.

Trying to get hot water out of the shower proved to be a bit of a mystery but we soon worked out that the hot water was actually coming from the cold tap!
So, if you are allocated room C103 in the Metin Hotel be sure to try the cold tap on the shower if the hot isn't working.

It is also advisable not to turn on the water too much as the pressure makes the shower head rise up like an angry cobra and shoots water over the top of the shower curtain!

breakfast on the roof terrace at the metin hotel, dalyan, turkeyBreakfast On The Roof Terrace
Hotel Metin, Dalyan
Breakfast at the Metin Hotel is typically a Turkish buffet style breakfast consisting of bread, tomatoes, olives, cheeses, fruit, salami, boiled eggs, yoghurt and cereal. Omelettes and fried eggs were available at an extra cost of 3 lira.

The food was nice enough but by the end of the 9 days we had had enough of it.

Breakfast is taken on the roof terrace of block C which is up 2 flights of stairs, so may be not very accessible to those with walking difficulties as there is no lift. However, there were tables in the room adjoining reception and I am sure they would accommodate anybody who couldn't make it upstairs.

Having said that, once up there, you are overlooking the Caunos rock tombs and some excellent views.

The pool at the Metin Hotel is circular and around 5ft deep around the perimeter, becoming deeper towards the middle.
There is a small, shallow, paddling pool to one side for little children.
The hotel bar is located towards the edge of the pool and is open from morning until well after midnight most nights. Snacks are available from the bar, although they finish serving them before 3pm.
Our stay at the Metin Hotel was on a bed and breakfast basis and we did not try the evening meal which was served around the pool at about 7-30 in the evening. Should you wish to have the evening meal you need to book before 3pm the same day, the cost is 20 lira, which is comparable with the local restaurants, the meal is buffet style with a selection of starters and two or three main courses and dessert.

The Hotel Metin has its own boat will organise various trips at additional cost.

Our Verdict

The Metin Hotel is ideal for couples aged about 45 upwards, it isn't ideal for families with children as there is somewhat of a lack of facilities for youngsters and teenagers. There is no entertainment team so the chances are that the kids would get bored if you wanted to spend the day around the pool.

The majority of the guests had been to the metin hotel before, our neighbours were on their fourth visit (and planning a 3 week visit the next year) and one couple was on their 9th visit! The Metin Hotel is definately one that we would consider returning to as well.

  • Location 10/10 - in our opinion the Metin Hotel could not have been situated anywhere better. It is within easy reach of shops, bars and restaurants which are just a few minutes walk down a side street, so noise isn't an issue.
  • Service 10/10 - The staff were very helpful.
  • Rooms 9/10 - Nice big rooms complete with free air conditioning.
  • Cleanliness 9/10
  • Overall holiday 10/10
