Best First Scooters For Toddlers
How do you choose a first scooter for a toddler?
I've been looking at scooters for my Grandson and done a fair bit of research whilst trying to decide which would be the best scooter for a toddler.
First of all it's worth considering what features you feel are important when choosing a scooter for your toddler. I took into account the following: For a toddler you need to choose a scooter with 3 or 4 wheelsMy first thought was that I needed a scooter which was stable enough for a small toddler to balance easily, lets face it they have not long since learnt to walk so they need something that is going to be sturdy and safe that will minimise the risk of tumbles! Some of the 3 or 4 wheeled scooters can be adapted to a 2 wheeled scooter as your toddler grows and gains in confidence so check that out if you want to get the most use out of it.

Is the scooter adjustable?
As the toddler grows it is useful if you are able to adjust the height of the handlebars of the scooter. This together with the ability to adapt the number of wheels will ensure it's longevity.
Choose a scooter with a low riding platform
Another point to look out for is the height of the scooter's riding platform, is it low enough for your toddler to get on and off easily?
Will the scooter fold up?
You may not have thought that this was an important feature for a toddler's scooter, but believe me, a foldable scooter will make life much easier. For one thing, it's much easier to get in it in the car if you go out for the day, and, when the toddler tires of riding it (and they will at some point) being foldable makes it much easier for you pick up and carry.
How heavy is the scooter?
For the reasons mentioned above I would recommend you look for a lightweight scooter! But aside from that the scooter needs to be light enough for the toddler to be able to manage and control.

Mini Micro Scooter With Seat Suitable For Toddlers From 1 Year
Yes, it is a bit pricey, probably why it wasn't top of my list, but it is versatile and you won't find many scooters that are suitable for a toddler from the age of 1 year.

Character Scooters For Toddlers
Coming in at No. 3 are what I call 'character' scooters. They are relatively cheap and prove to be very popular with the youngsters when they receive a new scooter depicting their favourite character!
This one is 'Finding Dory' and it is also available for the same price at Argos if you have a store near by and want one immediately! :-) Or if that isn't your toddler's thing you can also get scooters themed on Minions, Batman, Thomas The Tank Engine... the list could be endless so if you think that your toddler would prefer one of these then just search to see if there is a scooter depicting their favourite character. |
